Body Language Advice Can Help

By Alan Bentley

Self-confidence can be something difficult to achieve and it seems especially so when we are overly nervous and excited about our new date ahead. Is it going to develop into something special and long-lasting, for a change? Those butterflies in the stomach feel very real right now. How are you going to project yourself and what will this guy think of you after that first encounter?

If you tend to be somewhat of a worrier about everything, then you may be seeking body language advice from those who know all about this subject. During your first real meeting with that cute guy is he going to be able to see things that you don’t want him to? Is he going to come away with a bad impression of you because of the way that you hold yourself?

Body language advice tells you that you need to exhibit a dominant position and that this will naturally convey confidence and show that you are very happy and at ease with yourself. While we may be able to talk ourselves around any situation, the picture always tells 1000 words and in this case if you are not giving off the right body language, subconsciously this could all fail.

Whether we like it or not, first impressions and instant decisions are a part of our lives. When we get those certain “vibes” we’re never sure what they actually mean, but subconsciously we need to listen to body language advice as this can help us during those crucial moments.

Maintaining eye contact is the rule number one when listening to body language advice. It is absolutely essential that you do this as it says a lot about a person.Looking at somebody squarely in the eye is a deliberate action and should not be underestimated. Remember not to break your gaze until after he does, as otherwise it is seen as an act of submission.

Apart from common courtesy, don’t involve yourself with doing other tasks when you are talking to someone. This is essentially rude and if you don’t engage them by looking in the eyes this tells a lot. It is such a critical part of body language advice.

Posture is also very important when you meet somebody for the first time. Never slouch, whether you are standing or sitting and it maybe time for you to think about your workout regime to help you. Stand up straight and take deep breaths and it is amazing how much more positive you will feel.

Nervous gestures come to our aid when we are in awkward or embarrassing situations. You see them all the time — but nervous twitches, the tapping hand gestures or fee, these can all be very distracting and you need to focus on your inner calm before you do anything!
